Our Mission

To preserve homestead culture and protect beautiful land from cookie-cutter development by connecting homesteaders who share our values.

The Challenge We're Addressing

Across America, beautiful homesteads and century farms are disappearing at an alarming rate. When these properties come up for sale, individual families often can't compete with developers who have cash in hand and can close quickly.

The result is heartbreaking: another piece of agricultural heritage becomes another cookie-cutter subdivision. Rolling fields turn into quarter-acre lots. Historic barns are demolished. The culture and knowledge of sustainable land stewardship vanishes with each sale.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

How We're Making a Difference

Home n' Steady creates connections between homesteaders before properties hit the open market. When sellers know they can find buyers who will preserve and honor the land, they have an alternative to simply listing with the highest bidder.

We're building regional communities where homesteaders can:

  • Connect with others who understand their climate, soil, and local culture
  • Share knowledge, resources, and equipment
  • Get early access to properties that align with their values
  • Find mentorship from experienced homesteaders
  • Build resilient local food systems

By giving aspiring homesteaders a fair chance to compete for these properties, we're preserving not just land, but an entire way of life.

What We Stand For

🌾

Land Stewardship

We believe in regenerative practices that improve soil health, protect water resources, and create thriving ecosystems for future generations.

🤝

Community First

Strong local networks preserve knowledge, share resources, and create resilience. We're stronger together than we could ever be alone.

⚖️

Fair Access

Everyone who wants to live the homestead life should have a fair shot at finding their land, not just those with the deepest pockets.

How It Started

Home n' Steady began when a group of homesteaders watched the Henderson farm—80 acres of beautiful rolling land that had been in the same family for four generations—nearly get sold to developers.

The Hendersons didn't want their legacy turned into a subdivision, but they needed to sell. They reached out through their local homestead network, and within two weeks, connected with a young couple who had been saving for years to start their own farm.

The sale went through. The land stayed intact. The community kept 80 acres of working farmland. And we realized: this needs to happen everywhere.

That's why we built this platform—to scale those personal connections across regions, to give every homestead seller the option to preserve their legacy, and to give every aspiring homesteader a fair chance at finding their land.
